A multi-user interactive installation that allows the audience to directly influence video and audio playback. Using custom software we track participants around a 1:1 scaled wire-frame model of the Range Rover Evoque and trigger video, audio and lights in accordance with a pre-programmed composition.
For this project we developed a modular system of custom software, consisting of audience tracking, video and audio playback as well as lighting control. Using an overhead wide angle camera we were able to track the position of up to ten separate participants around the plinth. Our custom computer vision is able to robustly detect audience members through a wide range of lighting conditions.
To achieve a fine grained interactive video display we developed a high resolution video mixer that can blend up to 20 channels real time. The resulting composite video is projection mapped onto the Evoque wire-frame. The video content, the LED lights and synchronised audio loops were programmed to be triggered at given floor “hot spots” allowing the audience to interact with the system and with each other.
The installation appeared at events in London, Madrid and Bucharest.
